Charter Building Group is comprised of talented professionals who set the highest standards of service for our clients. We employ veteran superintendents, an estimator, project administrator and warranty personnel. In addition, we collaborate with the best craftsmen and women in our region. Our company offers in-depth knowledge of coastal issues such as product efficiency, wind codes, coastal home styles, site feasibility, permitting and soil conditions - all extremely important components of the coastal home building process. We are highly attuned to the trends and innovative products of the marketplace and continue to expand our reputation as a leading company for the area's finest homes.
For more than two decades, Charter Building Group has heralded the beauty and appealing lifestyle of the North Carolina coast. The company was founded with a keen appreciation for the elegance and grandeur of Low Country design and classically styled homes. Charter Building Group continues to thrive, albeit on a smaller scale in 2009. We are known for our productivity and creativity completing many "new classic" homes and a number of commercial projects throughout the Cape Fear region. We enjoy the collaborative process with our homebuyers and ensure that the beauty and integrity of our homes is preserved. Our principle, Mr. Richard C. Donaldson, is an unlimited licensed North Carolina general contractor with more than 35 years experience in residential and commercial construction, neighborhood design, infrastructure and golf course development. Richard grew up in Cary, Illinois and attended college in Fayetteville, Arkansas studying forestry. He worked as a custom home carpenter throughout college and moved to Raleigh, North Carolina in 1.8.11 to partner Quality Contractors. Richard later worked with Clancy & Theys Construction Company expanding his knowledge of commercial construction working in Raleigh, The Research Triangle Park, Wrightsville Beach, and Wilmington, NC. To gain experience in golf course and neighborhood development, Richard and his family relocated to Pinehurst, NC where Richard worked as Construction Manager of the exclusive Arnold Palmer Golf Development, Pinehurst Plantation. In 1990, Richard returned to Wilmington, NC as the Project Manager of Porters Neck Plantation and Country Club where he expanded Charter Building Group. Richard currently resides in Wilmington with his wife and two grown children.

We buy many of our building products "in bulk" with other area builders to help reduce expenses and pass savings to our clients.
