Holly Overton

Vice President & Co-Owner

Holly Overton brings nearly two decades of experience and a lifelong passion for homebuilding to Charter Building Group. A Wilmington native, she has played an integral role in the company’s growth while maintaining a strong commitment to quality, customer service, and thoughtful design.

Her interest in the building industry began early, spending weekends on job sites with her father, Richard Donaldson, and working alongside him on home projects. Those experiences inspired a lasting appreciation for transforming ideas into homes where families can build their lives.

After earning degrees in Journalism and Political Science from UNC Chapel Hill in 2008, Holly joined the family business, obtained her real estate license, and began her career in new home sales. Over time, she gained experience in every aspect of the homebuilding process, guiding clients from lot selection and home design through estimating and contract execution.
Under her father’s mentorship, Holly developed a strong foundation in leadership, customer service, design, and construction. Today, she leads the company alongside him while continuing to foster meaningful relationships with clients and industry partners.

Holly is an active leader in the Wilmington-Cape Fear Home Builders Association, serving as President in 2023 and currently serving on its Board of Directors. She is also a passionate advocate for women in construction and was selected by HGTV to build the 2022 HGTV Smart Home. Outside of work, she enjoys boating, running, skiing, and spending time with her husband and their two children.
